Welcome to People Factors!

My name is Sheree Nicholas and People Factors is the business I established in 2007.

I chose the name People Factors for 3 main reasons:

  • Firstly and most importantly, it's all about the people
  • Secondly people are a critical factor in any organisation and its ability to be a successful and energising place to work
  • Finally, if we can get the factors relating to people right, they can fly and so can our organisations

This website is a place for you to find out about me, my clients and the work I do with them.  If you are interested in seeing some of the clients I have worked with over the last 10 years, they are shown in About Sheree.  Brain Food is home to articles and videos that I find interesting and you might find something there to stimulate your thinking too.

Nine out of ten conversations miss the mark according to a Stanford University study.

  • Do the people on your team often seem to talk past each other?
  • Does it sometimes feels as if everyone in the room is trying to get their point across and nobody is listening?

You aren't alone.  Communication that really connects is a common challenge in teams and organisations.  In addition to being highly frustrating, inefficient conversations are costly for organisations, both in terms of time and money.  Are you aware of the conversational patterns you have and which of those are working for you and which are not?

Conversations are your currency - everything happens through conversation.

The quality of your conversations determine your success.  Effective conversations that hit the mark are essential to creating a culture of trust, enhancing innovation and speeding up decision making.

An M.I.T study showed that 50% of the difference between low performing and high performing teams is the quality of conversations.

"We've found patterns of communication to be the most important predictor of a team's success.  Not only that, but the are as significant as all the other factors - individual intelligence, personality, skill and the substance of discussions - combined."  Sandy Pentland, Head of M.I.T's Media Lab.
