"When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion"Ethiopian proverb
"We've found patterns of communication to be the most important predictor of a team's success.
Not only that, but they are as significant as all the other factors - individual intelligence, personality, skill and the substance of discussions - combined."
Sandy Pentland, Head of M.I.T's Media Lab
What is Team Development?
Team development is about creating clarity and alignment for each person in a team on two things.
Firstly, what is the purpose of the team? What are you formed as a team to do? Where do you add the most value? What should your collective energy and attention be focused on?
Secondly, how do you want to work together to achieve this purpose? How do you set yourselves up to ensure you have the conversations that need to be had at the right time. How do you communicate in a way that builds trust and transparency? What are the conversational patterns you have as a team? Which of these serve you well and which ones need to change?
Examples of Team Development
- Working with a new CEO and his leadership team to identify what their team purpose is, what they want to focus on when they are together and how they want to work together as a team.
- Working with the leadership team of an organisation that had been through a tough year and was facing another tough year. This was about having the conversations that really need to be had and creating a plan for how they would work together to lead the business and support each other through the challenge ahead.
- Working with a team that had good relationships and trust and strong performance. They wanted to work on having more transparent and challenging conversations without damaging the relationships.
- Regular sessions with the Executive Team of a high-growth organisation. These are focused on what the current opportunities and challenges are in the organisation and how the Executive Team can address these both as individual leaders and as a team.
More Testimonials
“We have worked with Sheree in our Team Development programs at Prolife Foods over the past 10 years. The major focus has been with the Prolife Executive team – as we developed our team culture/identity and strategies for the business. One key tool has been our Executive charter, which has been regularly updated over the years as Prolife has grown. Sheree brings a large amount of relevant expertise to these sessions and leveraged getting to know each of the Exec team extremely well to drive insightful conversations."
Andrew Smith – CEO Prolife Foods
"Our small law firm recently took part in team development with Sheree. We had a full day session with her followed by a couple of follow up half days. The work we did with Sheree was invaluable to our organisation. Our small team is deliberately a very diverse group, but that diversity presents challenges. Every organisation / board / management team is made up of a group of individuals with a common purpose. Sheree helped us appreciate our individuality, and to harness each person’s skills to work for the good of the team. We have much more synergy and focus now. Thanks Sheree!"
Alan, Director - Potter IP
"Delivering both individual and team coaching, Sheree provided invaluable assistance helping form team trust and culture. Through a blend of science, empathy, intuition and experience, Sheree supports moving teams into the high performing and good fun category."
Jason, CFO
“Working with Sheree to partner on leadership team efficacy was both a highly valuable experience and delivered the first stage of a key journey for a critical leadership team. Great support, co-creation and authenticity – many thanks.”
Rachel, Director HR
"Sheree proved to be invaluable to helping identify the forward pathway for our newly formed team to travel through, providing insight and anticipating trip wires which would hold up many teams’ progress. This wisdom and great communication style made our team more cohesive, more quickly which proved invaluable as we learnt to trust, challenge and hold each other accountable and start delivering sustainable results as a team. Personally, Sheree’s insight into my leadership was of great value, particularly when faced with what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles and encouraging me to challenge myself and my boundaries."
